Ethiopia Cup of Excellence National Winner

Light-Medium Roast

Tasting notes: Blueberry, Maple Syrup, Clean

Process:   Natural
Varietal(s):  Heirloom
Elevation: 1800 MASL

Our Ethiopian importer shared a sample with us, and we were blown away with the clarity, light mouthfeel and sweet berry notes of this exquisite coffee. This was the most expensive coffee we’d ever purchased but we decided the taste was worth every penny. (It's still a fraction of top auction prices.) We bought a 30kg box late last year which came in two vacuum-sealed, nitrogen-flushed bags to preserve freshness. We just opened the second bag for roasting and it’s as fresh as the day it was bagged.

This coffee, produced by Ato Yidnekachew Seleshi, was a national winner of Ethiopia’s first-ever Cup of Excellence. This prestigious competition has transformed the specialty coffee industry, by encouraging – and rewarding famers directly – to produce the highest-quality, single origin coffees possible. The premiums paid for these coffees enable farm communities to raise their standard of living, improve schools, roads and other vital infrastructure.
