Sumatran coffee is known for its distinctive flavor profile, but this coffee from the Takengon region in Central Aceh goes a step further: it's a natural processed coffee, where the coffee cherry is first dried with the coffee inside, before it gets wet hull-processed. This increases the fruit notes and complexity of what is already a very fine coffee.
The Meukat Komuditi Gayo cooperative was founded in 2017 with the goal of uniting people with a strong passion and dedication to advance the coffee production and the welfare of coffee farmers in the region. It consists of 450 small farms on the mountains and slopes of the Takengon Central Aceh region of Sumatra. This region is known for outstanding Sumatran coffee, and the farmers are proud of the specialty coffee they produce.
