Coffee Ratio for Drip Coffee & French Press

Dial in the coffee-to-water ratio for your brew method, then read off exactly how much coffee (or water) to use. Every ratio here is adjustable, and we've provided some guidelines to get you started. You can select measurements in metric, standard, and coffee scoops.

For the most balanced and nuanced flavor, we recommend 1 part coffee to 18 parts water, varying the amount of coffee +/-10%. This is the Golden Cup ratio published by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).

The Specialty Coffee Association's (SCA) Golden Cup standard is 55g of coffee to one liter of water (+/- 10%). A typical coffee scoop holds approx. 1 Tbsp. of ground coffee (~4.9g); darker roasts will tend to weigh less than lighter roasts.
